About Dr. Mohamed Elsayad
Dr Elsayad has held multiple leadership positions within the NHS, including Clinical Lead, Clinical Director, and Divisional Director. In these roles, he worked collaboratively with an exceptionally effective team to achieve transformative improvements within the radiology department, culminating in successfully leading the department out of special measures in 2017—a testament to his strategic vision and commitment to excellence.
Currently, Dr Elsayad is at the forefront of advanced pelvic imaging, managing complex cases in colorectal, gynaecological, and multiparametric prostate MRI. As the lead radiologist for the BHRUT Endometriosis Tertiary Referral Centre, he is pioneering efforts to raise awareness about endometriosis at the primary care level and directly with patients. Recognising the current lack of understanding surrounding this debilitating condition, Dr Elsayad is committed to bridging this gap by educating healthcare professionals and empowering patients with knowledge, ultimately improving diagnosis and care pathways. Additionally, he has introduced innovative practices, such as the use of microbubble contrast ultrasound for enhanced liver imaging.
His academic qualifications include a Specialist Ultrasound Master’s degree, with extensive training in abdominal, pelvic, vascular, musculoskeletal, and gynaecological imaging, as well as expertise in small parts and soft tissue abnormalities.
With a career spanning more than two decades, Dr Elsayad has dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation of doctors. He is a highly sought-after speaker and educator, leading prominent radiology courses and serving as a key trainer for candidates preparing for the FRCR 2b exam. Driven by a deep commitment to supporting overseas doctors, he provides mentorship and guidance to help them navigate the NHS, overcome challenges, and achieve success in their careers.
Dr Elsayad collaborates closely with GPs, clinicians, and radiology teams, ensuring the highest standards of multidisciplinary patient care. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys playing tennis, swimming, travelling, and exploring audiobooks on productivity and human psychology.
